Nana Poulot is currently pursuing an MA in Art and Business at the Courtauld Institute of Art and King’s College London. Poulot’s research interests centre on Black identity in the arts and contemporary Japanese art, with a particular focus on emerging artists. She is especially drawn to questions of race, diaspora, identity, empire, migration, and both postcolonial and decolonial methodologies, particularly in relation to the impact of the Harlem Renaissance on Black social life, as well as the legacy of the Windrush Generation and their contributions to Black British identity. Poulot has worked on a number of projects relating to the contemporary Japanese art market and is a contributing editor at Kyoto Journal. Her aim is to continually highlight the work of contemporary Black artists from across the globe and particularly in Japan, in a bid to make the art world more accessible to underrepresented and marginalised communities.
